renegade, I think that the paintball deal is a great idea, since I don't particularly like to eat whitetails anyway. Can you imagine the guy who kills it scratchin' his head wondering about the paint? The only thing better would be if it had a tag in his ear! LOL

Great shot. It's good that you actually practiced at that range before attempting the shot at an animal.

Ya'll remember when I killed that deer with a rock? Yeah anyway - ancient people killed mastodons using a stick with a sharp rock on the end of it. Heck of a shot ewc. I couldnt make it but if someone can wack an elephant with that gear, I'll buy you the biggest steak you can eat.

It is only the best equipment, and practicing with it to become aquainted with the trajectory can this be done. I believe this is the case and commend ewc`s achievement.

Great shot........

Tim, Tiny, and others-

Thanks. Really would have been harder without resources such as this site and Doug's (the best Savage 10ml only site on the web).

The shot itself wasn't that hard. Figuring drop beforehand took time, but when the shot presented itself, I was anticipating a kill.

My buddy wanted to sneak around for a closer shot, but had we tried that, we'd have been busted - and still had a +241 yd shot.

I'd shoot again tomorrow (at a still animal, at that range) and anticipate me killing it.

FWIW- Killed one last weekend at 205 with it. High shoulder shot and zero yds to recovery.

Deer seem to like the fields this year.
