I have been shooting my Encore 7 Mag all summer trying to find the correct bullet combo for the gun.... I shoot OK groupings but have a few questions??? I have a good gun holder to shoot with....
1. I have been told not to press down on the barrel just past the scope when i shoot but my twin does that and he shoots pretty good groups?
2. I hold it still and take a breath and squeze the trigger and the dang thing nearly hops to the side, I fill if I could hold the barrel with my front hand and hold it down that it wouldn't jump as much???
3. Because of the Big caliber will the 7 mag be harder to pattern than other smaller calibers...

I have had no problem getting great groups out of my 7mm mags.
Are you jrking the trigger???? There are too many variables to your question to give a good answer.

All you are doing off the bench is seeing how well the gun will shoot. That is a hole different story when you are out in the field.
Shooting small groups off the bench does not mean that you can
do it in the field. For field use, hold the gun when you are
at the bench, as much like you were out in the field and you
will get better knowledge of how it will work in the field.
All guns will jump, some more than others. Learn to shoot it correctly and don't be concerned about the jump, just learn
to deal with it.
However you hold it at the bench, to get close to the same results, you will need to hold it in the field as close to the
hold you were using at the bench

What grain bullet are you shooting out of that 7mm mag? For deer sized game go with 140's and that should get the recoil down a bit if you were trying heavier bullets. You could always try the managed recoil loads.
There is alot of powder to burn in a 7mm mag and when you couple that with a faily light rifle, well the result is muzzlejump and recoil. To tame that you have to use bullets at the lower end of the spectrum, yet suitable for deer sized game. There is no deer on the planet that will walk away from a 140gr well placed 7mm pill.
FWIW: I owned a 7 mag some time ago, during the magnum craze of the 80's and 90's. Now I have a .270 which is ballistically close to the 7 mag in deer loads, but kicks a whole lot less and I shoot it a whole lot better.
