Still a good buy for a lever action 30-30? I'm looking at them and it seems to be a traditional favorite.

Very well made rifle, and believe the logical choice if you want to get into the 30-30 business. When I first started all of this foolishness, the 94 Winchester was the king of the 30/30's,since they got a tremendous head start. However, after 1964,consensus said that the quality of those guns went way down. That, plus the fact that you could not mount a scope on top of the receiver since it was top ejection, gave the marlins an opening and they ran away and never looked back. I bought one late in my career, just for the novelty of hunting with a 30-30. Good gun.

I’m not having any luck finding a model 94 and have been looking at the Marlin also. Dicks has been running them on sale for $319 with a cheap scope.

You can find used 336's all over the place. They are great rifles. I just bought one in .35 Remington to complement my 30-30. A good used one should be in the $300-$325 range. Can often find them cheaper.

Still a good buy for a lever action 30-30? I'm looking at them and it seems to be a traditional favorite. I've shot one for over 20 years. Still a tack driver. The new guns and new ammo have extended thier range alot. Ammo is available in most places and cheap.
