How long do you let brass stay in the tumbler or vibrator?

Depends on how dirty it is. Usually 30 min for the light stuff. If it is real bad I will hit it with steel wool first on the bad places then tumble. I ad a little polish to the media and it seems to speed cleaning up.

Well, my tumblers must have been old when I bought them. I have
to leave mine running overnight alot of times to get the brass
clean. Thats what works for me.

Try the steel wool first then tumble. I am not talking about buffing them with wool till they shine just hit the bad spots and spin the case inside the wool.
I just cleaned some 300 win mag that were 20 years old and they were nasty as heck. Some of em green. I added a few cap full of car buffing compound because I am out of case polish. 40 min later they look like new. Just make sure they do not have any compound left on them especially near the primer pocket.

Be careful with the polish. I put a little too much in my tumbler once, it looked like used cat litter. It took a long time to get all the clumps out of the cases.
