To hold deer you need some diverse habitat so I would not bushog it all. I dont know how the lay out is but they need thick areas to bed and feel secure, they also need different stages of growth to supply different foods. I would try bushhogging small two to three acre plots for two hundred acres maybe five or six and bushhog the rest in rotating years and let some come up in timber. As far as what to plant I like the combo of clover and rye grass but you have to keep it mowed, that will do well untill you get some hard frost, for that I top sow wheat and tunips in August. Also you might try some trophy rocks. The deer will use them all year long to get much needed minerals. Hope this helps.
