Glad it worked out for you!
Everytime I see you....there you are.
Had to share what I seen on one of the outdoor channels, this weekend. This guy uses duct tape on the bottom 2" of the horns, to protect the stain. He crammed the skinned and eyes removed head, down in a pallet to hold it. Then broke out a pressure washer. 30 minutes later, he had a scull that looked like it was out of a science class. Blows the brain out and all, you just keep rotating till it's clean. I'm going to give it a try, if I get a chance.
Sometimes God doesn't calm the storm, He calms us in the storm.
If you don't use the bottom jaw you can easily remove brain material before boiling. I boil mine in the house but my stove has an exhaust fan that removes all odor. Keep water level below antler burrs and only use water. I use the stronger hydrogen peroxide from a beauty supply house as well. Once done boiling DO NOT let skull dry. I use one of the disposable aluminum turkey roasting pans for soaking in hydrogen peroxide. I brush it on the skull completely covering everything that's not antler. I then wrap the complete skull in a layer of gauze and brush again. After soaking for a couple of days I remove everything and rinse well and set it aside to dry 2-4 days. It does best if placed in a sunny location. It should be pearly white and require no painting. I do use a quality clear lacquer spray. They look as good 5 years down the road as they did on day 1.
