LOts of you have asked for ML trajectories. Here's mine, but remember that each gun and load is different so you may get different results.

Today I shot three 3-shot groups at 50, 75, and 100 yards. I then laid the targets onto a clean target and traced the holes, color coded them, and scanned the attached pic.

You can see I should be able to hold right on out to 125 yards.

Load is Hornady 300 gr XTP Mag with Harvester Crush Rib sabots, over 110 gr loose 777. Shot from a CVA Optima.

Good info, everyone of us could benefit from doing that with our own cannons!

Looks like your muzzleloader rises and falls back across the same path at 50 and 75 yards. So the the high point of its trajectory is somewhere around 60-62 yards.

YUP! That agrees with the trajectory tables I got out of some ballistic software after I input the BC of the bullet and the velocity from the label on the 777 container.

So my point blank range for the MZ is around 125 yards, and the point blank for my .270 is 300 yards. I just keep those too yardages in mind, and hold dead-on. I only shot at one buck with the MZ this year, but the hit was right where I wanted it.

Would have been nice to see results going from 100,125, and 150 yards.
I shoot somewhat old fashion stuff, 80 gr of FFg black powder, 375 gr TC Maxi Ball from a TC New Englander. At 80 yards I still can hold dead on. At 100 yards I have a 4" drop. At 125 yards, about a foot. One those heavy ml bullets start to drop they drop rapidly, even in 25 yard increments.
My son shoots a 240 gr xtp and can definately hold dead on at 125 yards.

That's neat, Jake. Good to see the CVA is still shooting well. Did you ever get the trigger done?
