I guess when you do something that most others can't - you should expect ridicule. Especially here. Appreciate that guys.
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Many would view this as similar to a 50 yard shot with a bow.
Targets are made for playing sniper. Deer deserve something more.

Ditto that 4onaside. I wasnt disrespecting or ridiculing you. dont jump on me. I do have doubts about kinetic energy out of that load at 326 yards though. That is not a high percentage shot and isnt ethical, sorry.

Thats a reasonable shot with a Savage ML using smokeless powder, but a range finder is a must at that distance. Plenty of energy and with a gun shooting 1-1.5 you have a what I would consider a midrange percentage shot. The bottom line is the SHOOTER has to know his/her abilities and stay within them. Congrats. With my AR-15 or Rem 700 300wsm, 300yds would be a no-brainer
By the way I use 72grs of Reloader 10 in my Savage with a Barnes 245gr spitfire. 175yds is my best with my Savage.

pass-thru-
I've killed at 53 yards with my bow. A 7 point in AndCo in the early 90's.
smokin-
I cant do it with a sidelock for two reasons:
I don't have one and I've not shot one.
Cull Buck Hunter-
Leica LRF1200
Steven-
Plus 1100 # energy at 325.
4onaside-
My bad. Took it wrong. I apologize. I gave as much info as I could because I've seen what happens when people have come on here and stated an accomplishment. They're a liar with facts or without. No win situation.
I don't need a "pat" on the back. I got over that years ago. I was just showing it could be done. I practiced a bunch and knew my shot. Ethical? Not for anyone to judge but me.
I killed a legal deer and checked it in.

I say congrats on a fine shot. You knew your weapon and felt confident with the shot. Congrats again!

Wasn't to long ago someone else got hammered pretty hard for the kill and shot they made. I hope you can handle it as well as they did.
I don't what size the deer is, if the hunter is proud of their kill then so am i.
Congrats man!
BTW its some of the post on this tread that has turned me away from posting hunting experiences I have had.

Ditto! There is no doubt about that CC. This site has turned to crap when a man can't post an accomplishment without having to defend it to people.
I post very little on here anymore for the exact same reason.
Congrats on the shot!
BTW, when did long range shooting become unethical? Is it just unethical for whitetail deer, but still ok for mule deer, elk, moose, bear, sheep, and antelope?
