My son's NEF Handi rifle is pretty good up to 70 yards. Past that, its spraying the bullets over 12"'s.

For those of you with kids shooting the .243 handi, what are ya'll shooting to get good consistency out to 100 yards? It doesn't matter if its a handload or not, but I don't what it to kick too bad.

Shooting Remmington 95 grain Accutip Boattails now

Thx.

Remington 100 grain corelokts. Four years or so ago made an honest 400 yard kill on a doe in KY with the NEF. Normally don't shoot near that far but I had paced it off the day before and knew how far it was to the corner of the field, plus I had a seated rest. Probably just luck but she went about 30 yards and was piled up inside the woods line.

On a more realistic note the 100 grains Remingtons always shot well for me. Could you have a loose base or rings? I had that problem just this week with my muzzleloader. There is now enough loctite on them that they won't come loose...or probably come off...ever!!!

One other thing...you might want to put some type of padding inside his shirt on his shooting shoulder. A folded up hand towel, a knee pad, etc. He can do this while practicing but he won't notice it's not there when a deer walks in to view. Just a thought.

I don't have a child shooting, but I have had this trouble with a nef.
How many rounds has been fired in the gun?
Have you done anything to try to help the problem or is the gun still completly as it came from the factory?

95-grain Fusion is what I'm shooting out of my encore .243. This is the first year for me with it so I haven't shot anything yet.
