I been told you were the resident expert.
Dady just bought a REM Sendero-II in 264 Win Mag,He called today tore up,,he said the dang bbl is marked 264 WM the Brass is 264 Win Mag and the bullets are 140 SGK,He said the book COL was 3.340 and he couldnot chamber a round,,I told him to chill,I heard Rem was gettin complaints on the freebore and had shortened some up,,he screwed it down to 3.200 and everything chambered real good,,didn`t ask about the load he was using, but do you think he oughta back way off before shooting or is this normal,,My Hornady manual lists 3.210 as COL for 140~s????
BTW the scope is the Leupold 3.5-10x50 with B&c reticle.

I don`t use books to find my OAL. You can do this as a starting spot if you wish, but the most accurate loads usually will be within .020" of the bullet contacting the rifling. Hornady Lock-N-Load OAL tool formerly Stoney Point uses a modified case you can buy to fit the chamber and an aluminum extrusion devise is able to screw together with the modified case to check seating depth. There are other methods to find the lands, but the Hornady system is best. I have had several Remington 264`s and they are short throated.
Please don`t refer to me as any expert. I will post on anything I have experience with.

Don't be shocked! It's true.
I have the same gun and it was VERY short throated. Sent it to a gunsmith with a dummy round and he extended the throat to where it should have been in the first place!

I don`t know if I`d want to be compared to BSK,,,
anyway,,,what knida speeds are possible with that short throat and 140 SGKBTSP bullets with the 26 inch bbl.
any favorite loads..I would think RL-25,Mag-Pro or H-870 maybe even A-8700..

I currently have a 264 Win Mag, and use Retumbo with the 140`s. I am running a very stiff load, and get over 3200 fps. H1000 is another good powder as RL25 is too, but I always shot RL25 with 120`s. RL25 and 120`s gives great speeds and good accuracy in some rifles.
