I just had the usual old man's annual physical, blood, urine, chest xrays, ekg, prostate, etc. last Wed afternoon, but no MRI. Have not received the Doctor's phone call or letter yet, so, who knows? On shooting the boomers, I shot a marlin 336, 30/30 this afternoon and a Marlin MR-7, .30/06 from a bench. The 336 scope kissed me twice between the eyes(no blood), and the bolt action was like a BB gun. So, I guess I was kind of loosey goosey with my hold on the lever action and was shooting the bigger rifle properly, because it was a bigger rifle(and also because it probably fits me better). Hopefully, you will be back amongst the big bangers soon. Hang in there.
I have a ruger77 .243 in a hogue stock that literally does not kick at all! Of course, you have to have someone along to help you lift it! LOL

I'll find out today whether they'll let me go for opening day of Muzzleloading Saturday. I always look forward to that every year and muzzleloading is usually when I put my venison in the freezer. If they give me the go I've already got plans for a lighter charge and lighter bullet for the muzzleloader to reduce recoil. No 300 grain Hornady XTPs at 2200 fps with a heavy charge this year. I'll back down to a 240 at 1800 or so which makes a big difference. We'll see the verdict on what happens today. The wife may have to drive me to opening day. LOL
Thanks for all the support folks! It helps. I'm bored to death doing nothing. I usually don't do a lot but doing nothing stinks.

Doc's office says I shouldn't go tomorrow and to wait for later in the year. However another opinion I received (mine) says it will be OK to go if I take it easy and get someone else to drag out my monster buck for me.

I missed most of the gun season many years ago with a disc operation. As soon as I was able, I compensated for my "loss" by going on a boar hunt in February. In the final analysis, only you know if you can do it. However, let common sense dictate what you do. Don't kill yourself for one day in the field. And, if your desire to hunt overides good judgement, good luck. LOL
