I for one have a serious problem with any standard 'factory' rifle for over $1000. Now there are some things worth the extra money to me (ie if the rifle comes with a McMillan stock, the titanium actions, the quality of the barrel, etc), but for the most part I see no reason to buy a new $1000 factory rifle when I can get a very nice used rifle for $400. Of course, all this will do is gradually drive up the cost and value of used rifles.
Main reason I don't like Winchesters is that it is more difficult to find aftermarket parts for them than the Rem 700.

Agree with you megalo...I don't even hunt with the Win. Classic Stainless I have b/c I don't want the hassle if something goes wrong with it.

That is becasue they do not break like some other rifles you have to work on all the time.......

Brownells has everything you will ever need if you need Model 70 parts. I've never had to replace anything for my Model 70's.

If you dont hunt with it maybe you should offer it to me for a good price!:) I have never seen a Mod 70 break in any way. To not hunt with a rifle of good quality because something "might" happen to it doesnt make much sense to me. Do you not drive a car because it "might" break down? Glad to see an Amercian made rifle back in production.

I dont think Jack O'Conner was much into shooting little bitty groups at long ranges.
You are correct, he was more into hunting than target shooting, and cleanly taking game with a well made HUNTING rifle was his passion.

If he were alive today, he`d be shooting a Alaskan Ti in 270 WSM.
