fyi but if it left the factory as a rifle you cannot convert it to a pistol legally. Granted the parts will fit but it is registered as a rifle and can't be converted. If it left the factory as a pistol then it can be converted to a rifle but not the other way.

Ditto. No difference in putting a pistol grip on it than it is cutting the barrel shorter. ATF wouldn't like you doing that. But it would be up to them to find out what it started out as.
