Some of the accuracy problems could stem from movement in the pin that holds the barrel and action together. I bought a pin that is held in place by a washer and allen head screw and it makes a world of difference. This is not an oversized pin, but a modified version of the TC factory pin. T/C's comment was "The factory pin gets satisfactory accuracy for us, but for pinpoint accuracy I can't tell you not to use the pin that doesn't move"

My original encore wouldn't shoot the 250 grainers worth a poot. Never tried the 200 grainers, but when I loaded up some of the 300 grainers, presto, 1 1/2" groups at 100 yards.
With my new prohunter, I started with the same load I used in my old encore. 300gr XTP's over 120gr loose 777. 1 1/4" groups at 100 yards.
Bottom line, give the 300 grainers a try before you give up on the barrel.

As far as accuracy, I have had great luck with 110 grains of loose 777 and a 250 grain powerbelt.
