all I had was a RCBS neck die and got a Redding FL to bump some shoulders a tad,,but when sized in the Redding die it does not size the neck enough to hold the bullet,,you can push them in and pull them out by hand,,they are Win Cases that have been loaded 3 times and the necks have not been turned and measure .016-.017..
I thought Redding was top of the line???????????

Out of spec die or marked wrong. I have a 264 Winchester neck die that I tried to use on 7mm Mag brass and those would not hold a bullet with enough grip. You could move it with your fingers.
They are top of the line, just all folks let bad ones out the door sometimes.

I have had several of the WSM cases not get the neck sized down enough. Try screwing your die in a little more. This fixed the problems I was having in the WSM dies, both the 270 and the 300. The dies were both Lee and RCBS.

You could pull the bullet out with your fingers and spin them in the case. Has anyone else had this problem?

Sounds like you've got a Redding Body die. Maybe it was mismarked of something. I've got one and it is for sizing the body and bumping the shoulder but doesn't touch the neck. It's intended to be followed with a neck sizer. They don't come with a decapper. If yours has got a decapper sounds like something's wrong.

Along Hillbilly Hunter's line of thought check and make sure that when your press is making full contact of the die and the shellholder at the top of the stroke. I think you probably already have checked this if I know you. If not you've either got a bad die or undersized bullets. Both happen. After only three firings I wouldn't expect it to be an annealing problem and the neck thickness sounds ballpark.

Compare the expander ball diameter with some other 308. If it is too big, polish it down.

Some FL dies have bushings to size the neck. These are sold separately. Make sure you don't need a bushing in that particular die.
