Anybody else in middle or west TN having problems with freakin armadillos digging up food plots? Man, these suckers are destroying a few of mine. We've killed three over the last few weeks and have seen several others. The weird thing is, the adjoining property owner has several plots with the same mix planted as I do, and he's not having any problems with them. I guess there are more grubs and worms on my place than on his.

RS,
Yes, I am having a terrible problem with them. I didn't have nowhere near the problem last year and they seem to move mostly at night. Anyone have a good way to deal with them?

In the last three years, their local population has exploded.

The way we deal with them is to drive slow after dark and kill them out of the plots

Buddy of mine told me he counted 16 the other evening on my farm. My fields are starting to get a lot of big holes in them. The holes look like groundhog holes, but it's armadillo holes. I think it is time to take the kids armadillo hunting.

Try the granules for ticks it also gets rid of grubs and ants that armadillos eat. It worked in my yard so it should work on food plots.

Robbie,
We also are having some serious problems with armadillos in our food plots. Not sure how to control them other than a brute force approach in the dark of night. Of course that's probably not going to play well with the deer and possible hunting success.
Hope everything else is going well for you and the girls!!

I like that idea. I've heard of similar methods to get rid of moles, so it seems fair that it would work with the dillos too.
Next questions -
How expensive is it to treat large areas? Are there any negative side effects to getting rid of your grub/ant populations?
I would think that they help aerate the soil like worms due, and probably have some sort of fertilizing benefit as well.
