I got a Federal 38 Spl once that had the primer in backwards. Called them and was hoping I would get a little something, nope. Now I check all primers on the ammo we get.

Quick fix to the problem is to start handloading. Sure its still possible to get the primer in backwards (done it twice myself) but atleast you know exactly what went into your ammunition.

I got a box from my old dept. and one of the rounds had a bullet seated upside down.
