Whats the best way to locate grouse habitat? I am from Illinois and used to hunting pheasant. Now the only work my dogs get is running in the back yard and trips to the hunting preserves around here when I got the money for it.

Stick to the clearcuts..>5yr. old..You can call the TWRA and see where they have done the most timber cuts on NFL....

Are there many grouse on the plateau? I would love to get into it, but don't have a dog, is that even possible?

yes on catoosa and it difficult to hunt them Ive heard without a dog.

do you hunt catoosa for grouse much? the hollows or the clear cuts? i've only saw 1 grouse there.

Ive seen several grouse there while scouting and deer hunting, but Ive never hunted any there. As mentioned above just look for 5 to 10 year old clearcuts. thats what they like and catoosa has many areas like this.
