Starting a load for my sons 7mm08. Thinking of using CCI 250 primers. I found where a few used them in loads. I fear they are a little hot and wanted facts from those who loaded them before and opinions from those who are in the know.

I used the regular large rifle primers in both my 7-08's, but the magnums should be fine as long as you back off a couple of grains to start with (although they really shouldn't change pressure much at all).

I use magnum nowadays where I wouldn`t have in the past.
Only with ball powders.

I have not reloaded much in years but back in the day there is no telling how many times I pulled the lever. Things have changed but what I notice the most is powder and pressure.
Davy purchased me the complete outfit last year and I am cranking them out again.
Only reason I asked about the 250 primers is I found lots of loads with Rem 9 1/2 and only one with CCI 250 and the powder/pressure is the same. I would have thought the powder would have been lower to maintain the same pressure.

A 7mm-08 doesn't have enough powder in the case to need a magnum primer. I would stick with the CCI 200's.
