I had always used the Rem. core-loc 175gr. I never lost a deer but, was never really pleased with the distance some of them traveled after a shot.
I have shot several deer with the Noslar 154gr, drop where they were standing. Not alot of damage either.
I am loading the Noslar 165gr ballistic tip for my Rem 700 in .300 Savage with good results. I still use the 180gr round nose in the Model 99.

Shot and Killed a cougar with the 175 core-loc 7mm slightly reduced load, great bullet killed a bull elk with 150 ballistic-tip 7mmm one shot at 400 yds did a great job, very very accurate dropped in his tracks (still have the bullet I will post some time) but had bad results close range with the speed and construction I heard Nosler strengthened there jacket though, and haven't tried them lately

must be a Hornady 154 SST,Nosler doesn`t make 154 gr bullets.
