Been considering adding a new rifle to the safe and the new Remington Stainless fluted CDL walnut is the best looking gun Ive seen in along time. However for the same price I could get a Kimber 84m classic in Walnut. Has anybody shot the SF CDL? The Kimber?

Im also torn between a 270wsm and a 308.

Have one of the limited 700 CDL SF in 3006.I Agree it is one nice rifle and is the best looking and handleing rifles from Big Green in a long long time.Have handled but haven't shot the Kimbers, the CDL ain't even close to them IMHO.

That said my advice Get the one you like and want everyones opinions be danged. ;\)

I have a Kimber 8400 in 270 WSM. It shoots 1/2-3/4 inch groups with handloads and factory 130 gr Fed Ballistic Tips. The triggers are nice from the factory, and it weighs less and is shorter over all than the Remmy. Personally I like the looks alot more, but then again I'm no Remmy fan. I dont understand why in the world the prices for Remmys have gotten so high, I dont really think you get what you are paying for like you did a few years ago.

The ballistics on a 270 WSM are way better than a 308. They are better than a 300 WSM even. Better velocity, energy, and drop. http://www.remington.com/products/ammuni...WSMB*PRA270WSMB

The 700 LSS is the best looking rifle IMO.

KIMBER all the way. It's just a higher quality product for the $$$.

ditto....

The choices are way apart with the 308 and 270WSM.

From a factory ammo standpoint the 308 gets the nod.

270 WSM performs way, way better than a 308.

I like the Kimbers, but if I chose a WSM round I would go with the Remingtons. A 7mm-08 or 308, I would go with a Kimber.

Hillbilly I think your rifle in the pic above is the best looking rifle Ive seen in along time! The LSS is too glossy to me. They are pretty but I like the finish of the CDL stainless better.

I dont see paying obscene amounts of money for a gun, regardless of what it is.

Although, when I have $1600 I am gonna buy me a Armalite AR-30 single shot in .308 winchester

About 3 years ago I actually went to a gunstore with intents on buying a Kimber Montana. I picked it up, felt great, good balance, etc. Then I fiddled with the bolt and found that it had a huge amount of lateral play even when closed. Not sure why it was so sloppy, but that turned me off. For a $300 gun, sure I could live with it; but at $1000, I expect it to be built to very tight tolerances.
