I'm chiming in here way late.... but you can't go wrong with a Horton. I love mine... and yes, I have the Explorer 150 package. I did just swap our the red dot sight for a scope and I do like the scope a lot better. But Horton is the way to go.

.. what!! straight up honesty... 25 or less is about as far as I can see from just about everywhere I have to hunt (across my field is an exception). I might manage 35 - 50 (and that would be threadin' one w/a M/L or centerfire (which ain't real good idea anyway)) from a place or two - but not many. I've shot a few 5 yards from the tree... I aint proud.
I tend to hide up in the thick where the deer are. It tickles the crap out of me to her people talking about 50 yards...

I believe I'll go with a Horton, but I haven't decided on a 150 or a 175 yet.

Tony,... i'm real late on this but if you want to check out my excalibur i would be happy to meet you or you can come up and shoot. I went to BPS in nashville and checked out every single crossbow they had hanging on the wall. I liked the excalibur due to weight, comfort, package available, and price for a top of the line product. I liked the recurve design over the cams also.
Either way,.. they are a blast to shoot.
