Is it worth my time to plant seed that isn't innoculated? What makes innoculated seed better than seed that isn't innoculated? I am planting tomorrow and don't want to waste my time or hundreds of dollars on bad seed. Thanks for the help.

I'm assuming you are talking about legume seeds only. They are the only ones that need to be inoculated.
They do need to be inoculated to see the maximum potential germination and growth from the seed. Can you plant them not being inoculated?? YES,... but germination and growth will suffer. BUT,... you will see some results. Especially if you continue to throw nitrogen on the plot during the planting and after the planting.

Inoculation simply provides the bacteria needed to produce the root nodules required for fixing nitrogen. If that variety of clover has been planted in that soil in the recent past, the soil will already contain the needed bacteria. If not, plant growth will be quite a bit poorer than it could be, but it will grow.

You can do an internet search with key words:
+rhizobacter +bacteria +clover +inoculate
to learn more about all this.
