gil1,

I would probably pass on shooting a spotted fawn (if I ever saw one during MZ season), but I've certainly purposefully killed female fawns. The only good female deer is dead female deer!

...and they taste great too!

Pass on fawns? Everything that I have ever read on the subject of shooting game animals gives the same advice. Pick a small "spot" when you are aiming. What else could they mean by that?

Shoot them small and cook them whole.

I let them walk if the fawns are small or have spots. Even if I suspect they are fawns, I will let the doe walk

Excellent Point...

I may have to lay a few down.

If there spot free there good as gone! You can't eat it if you don't shot it. If she has some in tow that are spot free shoot the fawn first, cause mama with come looking for baby, then let her have it!

If given teh chance I do it the other way around. Shoot mamma and them fawns will coem around lookign for her. it's their first season, so they aren't to wise.
mamma on the other hand will leave them fawns if she feels threatened.
