Shot mine into a pile of dirt with moss on it yesterday before I climbed down. Rock under the moss, ruined a good bolt? Need to make sure I pick softer ground to unload my bow in.

If your quiver will hold it...you may want to have a rubber blunt head on the extra bolt to shoot the bow out with. Local Warden told me it was illegal to have the field tip on the shaft..... oh well, I did what he told me, but was curious as to why that rule may be in effect. Seeing I had 4 other bolts all will fixed broadheads...???????????

I also carry a spare pos bolt with a field tip and shoot it into ground
This is what I do, but Instead of a field tip I wrapped duct tape around and made a padded tip.

All you got to do is take boths hands and grab the string hold some pressure back on it and put your thumb in the trigger hole and push the trigger.Works great for excalibur crossbows.

I use a blunt tip and ruined one last weekend. Arrow came out fine, though.

As long as you lower the string slowly, either by hand or via rope cocker you won't hurt any xbow.
