Ok I'm sure this comes up every year. So your sitting in your tree in the early season and here comes a doe w/ a kid(s) in tow. Do you let it fly or let her go? Just curious as to what yall would do cause I know everyone has a different opinion on this. Personally I've let them walk in the past but I think I may change my mind this season. I know I've read somewhere that the does will push there little boys out of the area once they come into estrous. What's your thoughts?

Tpyically....by this time of year fawns can last just fine without mom around so you're not hurting anything. I have a personal preference and that is not to shoot a doe with fawns in tow, but that's just a personal preference.

Yea I would think they would be ok but the past few seasons I've been seeing some tiny fawns during early bow season. I've never seen one nursing so I guess they would be alright. You think the yotes could get them easier without mom around?

No, but only because I'm a softy and I feel sorry for them. Can't say I have a valid reason.

I'd shoot the fawn and put it in my wagon. ;\)

Seriously, if the fawn is weaned, I will shoot the doe if she's of decent size. I've been out 3 times (here in NC opening day was the 8th). Two of those times I had a smallish doe (not a shooter for me) come in with her fawn (the first time he even nursed), and I let her go. At any rate, a fawn will usually hook up with another doe group rather quickly if orphaned.

The other time out, I saw nothing ... not even a squirrel. Time to switch locations, I reckon.

No, I try not to shoot the does if they have smaller fawns. Once they get up to about 80 lbs or so they are fair game.
