rope. I went and bought one of the cocking ropes with the pulleys. This one does not work on my crossbow. I need a longer rope. So I am taking this 23.00 piece of junk back.
The thin is I can pull my crossbow string back and cock it with ease with my own hands. Why can I not just pull it back and do it myself with my bare hands?? How can this stinking rope cocer make my shooting anymore accurate????? Anybody else here just do it this way?

In your case I would say the only drawback to using any kind of cocking aid would be you could rip the entire thing apart. \:D

A rope cocker makes it much easier and takes all the guess work out of properly aligning the string. Like others have alreadu said just mark your string (while in the uncocked resting position) on the left and right side where it sits next to the rail and when you pull it back by hand then just make sure your marks are equally spaced in the same manner.

the times I have shot a cross bow, I just pulled back with my hands.. As long as you dont just pull it back real fast it will come back even, and also like stated above, mark your string..

I shoot mine about 20 times a day, and pull the 150# by hand, have let it down many times.
What's the big deal??

Big J- Just a guess. I am going to guess you do not need a longer rope cocker. I am going to guess you are not using the one you have correctly. The reason I say this is because I used four of them before I read the freakin directions. All four were too short until I did it correctly.

NOW: Cocking devices serve two distinct purposes. #1- they help HELP to eliminate inconsistencies in drawing the string back. On the 400# pull bows like DJ's, the make cocking a lot easier.

I cock my Horton by hand because I not only have the string marked, I have learned how to use my forefingers as a giude. My TenPoint has Accudraw. Best thing since sliced bread.

A year ago I shot a 165# Great Lakes (Darton) and it was impossible to cock by hand and keep the string straight.

I got one somewhere , I didn't need it .On my horton the dang thingamajiggys would get caught on the elevation control knob for my scope every time I pulled it back so I just pull it back with me own two hands.

Don't know much about x-Bows but I thought that the cocker pulley thingy was to make sure that you pull evenly so your string will not get out of wack????
