I believe I'm going to try some alfalfa. Any suggestions for a successful alfalfa plot? Seems I've heard it takes some special care or prep. Anyone tried it in northeast Tn?

Good luck....Pray for rain and have a sprayer ready...And remember, Alfalfa will put a toxin the ground that won't allow much of anything to grow for a while if you decide to change next year.
Or so my buddy in Nebraska tells me.

I planted it this spring, the drought set it back but did not kill it., You need close to 7 ph. Mine is bouncing back now, with all the rain we got the past 5 days. Good luck. You will have to deal with weeds and grass but who don't.

PH level MUST be between 6.7 to 7.0 and must have the exact amount of fertilizer recommended from a soil test for a feild going into alfalfa. It must be maintained by spraying and cutting ,. and you must hold the ph level at all times.
Imperial alfa-rack plus is extremely hard to beat if you want alfalfa and can grow it and maintain it.

Thats what I planted, only down side is with the chickory in the mix you can't spray for broadleaf weeds. Have to control by mowing best you can.
