Do you recommend turning in the lime and fertilizer with a disc or just spread it on top?

I was affraid that discing the fertilizer and the lime into the ground would put it too deep and not even reach the root system.

If possible, always disk lime and fertilizer into the soil. Some parts of fertilizer are not "mobile" (they will not leach into the soil much) hence they must be transported down into the root zone mechanically.
