Ok Guy's, I need some advise on what slugs to start testing in my Mossberg 935 Slugster with a Nikon Slugster scope. Being retired military I got use to using the ole slugster on base and had alot of success over the years and seen how the sport has evolved from pumpkin ball type slugs in smooth bore good out to 50 yrds. to what it is today, deadly sabots out to 200 yrds. I've been shooting Hornady SST's and had success but with companies coming out with 3'1/2" slugs and reading other shotgun forums and hearing people brag on Hastings and other brands, whats the best to hunt with in your opinion. I want the best set up possible.

I have an 1187 Slugster. I run Winchester SuperX 2 3/4, 1600, 1oz through it. They work fantastic for my set up.
However, I can't attest to 200yd shots. 75-100 are the farthest distance I've shot.

Slugs and Slug guns are the finickiest (if that's even a word) things I've ever fooled with. You just gotta drop $100 on several different boxes of slugs and see what it likes.

x2 Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a "standard" that works in all barrels. I've always heard good things about the Remington copper/sabot rounds in rifled barrels, so that would be one that I tried.

Make sure you have everything in your scope mounts loctited down. The 12 ga slugs give "elephant gun" level recoil, and it things start shifting on you, it will lead to a "chasing your tail" deal in getting things sorted out.

I use the Winchester three inch sabots. Work very good and you can choose different velocities. I use 1400 fps. Remember, these guns will kick the slobber out your mouth.
