Without having to spend $2000 or more has anyone had any luck filming a hunt with a specific video camera. One with dual purpose I'm in the market for a new camera but it'll have to be rugged for a lot of weather conditions for both hunting and family stuff. Opinions please

I have filmed hunts for past 2 or 3 years with a Lumix FX75 point and shoot camera. It's decent and films in 720p HD with good image quality, but the microphone lacks in quality (not sure if it's the mic, or the sound compression on the camera)

I just recently bought a Lumix V250 camcorder for filming hunts and so far I LOVE it. at $250 it does what I need, has a stereo zoom mic with great sound quality, records in 1080p HD, and zooms 90x so I will be able to film those deer that are off in the distance. It's not too grainy in low light either. I researched it before buying and for $250 I don't think it will be easy to beat. It also has wifi and you can control it remotely from your smartphone. It takes still pics as well, but I haven't messed with that much yet. I especially love the 90x zoom and sound quality. Takes a high speed SD card, the setting I have it on now will record over 2 hours on 16 gb card at 1080i AVCHD.

As for weather resistance, I don't know. I will carry something to put over the camera if it's raining.

Oh and Lumix has even better camcorders in the same line, that go up in price and quality but you can still stay under $1,000 easily

my youtube channel is http://www.youtube.com/catman529outdoors - as of now the videos are filmed with the old FX75 so there will be a nice improvement in video quality coming this fall.
