I've fished many of the 60-80% chance of storm days recently and only had a few raindrops and sometimes had full sun. I usually will wake up anyway and check the radar, I can then get a better guess of whether I'll get wet in my particular location by looking at the animation to see which direction the storms are moving and if they're decreasing or increasing in size.

That has been much more reliable over the years than listening to their best guess percentage of whether we'll get rain.

And fish don't mind the rain, neither do I! I've fished in downpours without a care. Now lightning will make me paddle my yak faster than I ever thought possible and get the heck out of the water.

Get a float tube and float from the dam down to the island. Some great fishing and lots of honey holes. We always take two vehicles and park one at each place.

My buddy actually has a very nice float tube he bought when he was going every weekend.
Think he paid like 300 bucks for that sucker.

Take note of the sluicing that they are doing with generation this time of the year. It makes the water rise a lot faster and with more force. I feel like I have a good feel for the Caney and have fished it many times even with two generators but I about lost all my gear, boat and maybe my life about this time last year.

That's when they open the gates at the bottom of the dam and let out some serious water without generating any power from it. They usually do that on the Clinch when the water level on the lake is getting too high and they need to dump a lot of water in a short amount of time.

Right now they are sluicing 250 CFS. To give some comparison, when running one generator it is about 3,600 CFS. The only reason they sluice this time of year is to maintain water quality for the fish in the river. It will not be a factor for you. 250 CFS makes that river very fishable and is great for good canoe levels without having to drag.
