Ive got a CVA buckhorn thats rated to 150gr. I dont intend on goin past 120gr if that.
Anyway my question is, with it being rated to 150gr would it be safe to shoot the heavier bullets (400gr+) in it with powder charges up to 120gr? Im thinkin 100gr of pyrodex and a 430gr lead maxi-hunter this year.

What's the manual say? I'm not sure about the buckhorn, but the manual for the optima I had recommended a max conical bullet weight of 400 grains. Now, with that said, I shot a 410 GP conical with 90 gr. of 777 out of that rifle. It shot really well. Also, I believe it's DA that shoots the big 400 gr. lead powerbelts out of a buckhorn with a 110 gr. charge.
