We have had some Tndeer floats on the Clinch in the past and have had a great time. Are you guys interested in getting another float organized? I have been catching some really great fish this year along with several other members on this forum. We can start the morning off at Golden Girls for breakfast and then launch the boats at Miller's Island and float to Peach Orchard or down to the 61 bridge. You can float the Clinch River in just about any aluminum jon boat safely without hitting bottom 1 hour after the generators turn on at Miller's Island. I like to make several runs up to the weir dam first and then float down. What do you think? Saturdays are good for me.

So a 16ft aluminum with a 40hp would work?

No problem. People kayak all the time on the Clinch. There are groups of people that float the river all the time in their yaks.

The Clinch River is located 15 minutes North of Knoxville at exit 122 on I-75. The Miller's Island boat launch is 10 minutes, if that long, from exit 122 off of I-75.

If I can get free, I'm in. Rough time of year for me, but I always enjoy a good float.

How many kayakers are in? I may do this if I have some folks to float our plastic vessels with.

If the dates are good I will bring my driftboat and can take two. Why not just run from peach orchard to 61 and make it a day?

How does September 27th sound? That will give people plenty of time to make arrangements if coming from the west side and give some time for others to join in if they are on the fence to come or not. The generating schedule will be 1 generator from 10am to 1pm and then 2 generators from 1pm to 4pm. If we put in at Miller's Island and get to the launch at 11am to 1130am, we can pretty much float the whole river down to the 61 bridge in a timely fashion.

Sept. 27 is opening day of the deer season, which might cut down the crowd a little.

I'm curious on how you know what the generation schedule is over a month in advance. I'm doing good to know 15 hrs ahead of time for the Caney.

I didn't know that as I don't bow hunt. Would that be an issue for those that are interested in going?

Thanks for the link! I use the TVA generation schedule info, but hadn't seen that. I will use it to have some idea on what the schedule is supposed to be. But, the highlighted part on the schedule being subject to change due to rain and other operating conditions would keep me from making hard and fast plans a month in advance.

Great idea & would love to go but opening day might be a problem...how about the 20th...the Saturday before. I'll also be able to take a passenger.

Opening weekend is a definite no go for me. Weekend before should be fine. I'm willing to occupy a spot in a boat if someone has the room.

The 20th won't work for me. We have children's birthdays to go to that day. Maybe we can figure something out. The weekends are the best to plan a float because of the recreational release schedule. I don't think I've ever seen them unexpectedly change the schedule in the 15+ years I've been going up there.

How about the 13th. That is 3 weeks away and should give anyone interested time to make plans.

I'm good to go on either 9/7, 9/14 or after 3 on 9/13.

I forgot to mention, I need a ride in someone's boat.
