Any word yet on the research done/being done in Wayne, Lawrence, and Giles Counties?

Talked to a guy at a check station a few days ago, one of the check stations that was donating birds. He said he still hasn't heard of anything, and that all he knows harvest numbers are still going down. He said his place was down 200 from last year(I think alot of that has to do with the new check-in procedures)

Also, there was a green sheet of paper that was labeled something to the effect of "Summer Brood Report." Are these available everywhere? What are they? Is it the same thing as the Fall survey? Is it part of the research the UT extension office is doing? I noticed it was very similar to the fall survey, but had an extra column that was labeled "North or South end of County."

Early in the turkey season, I talked to some guys from UT. They said that their research would be posted on-line. I am asking if it has been posted yet, if they are even finished. He also said they would radio collar hens during nesting/brooding season to see if they could learn anything else about them.

I am just wondering if anything has come of this testing as of yet. Very curious to find out what the big problem is, if any.

Thanks.

I'll leave this open so BGG can respond when he can. I don't think the research has been completed, but I am not in that loop.

That is true I believe, but wild turkeys move alot over the course of a year. It isn't like Highway 64 is a forcefield that they cannot cross.

Any more info on the research that they are doing? All I have heard so far is that the fall seasons are closed for these counties for this coming season.

Thanks.

Ive only seen one hen - a big hen - on my property so far this year. However I have not gotten to the back lot yet - in the fall I will head out there.

I've heard nothing from the study. You may want to give the
Wildlife Div. a call.
