I am shooting a samick journey at 40 lbs at 28 , but I am drawing 30" so I am guessing it's more like 45lbs.it also has a fast flight string . Currently I am shooting 2018easton aluminum arrows with 125 tips , I want to try some traditional carbon arrows with a 150 grain tips , what spine do y'all think I need ? The best I can tell the 2018 has a spine rating around 460. I of course have to shot a 31 to 32 inch arrow .

my suggestion is to try a 500 spine series such as a gold tip 3555.
I'm currently shooting about 50#, drawing about 27-1/2", using a 29-1/2" shaft with 175 gr points. this setup flies go for me as long as I don't pluck.
I have tried GT3555, Easton 500s and the wolverine 4050s from walmart with very similar results between them. the heavier 5060s, gt 5575 and Easton 400 I couldn't get to tune.

Unless you just wanting the look of wood you can save some money going with just regular carbon shaft. Sometimes with a little digging you can find tradional carbons with blims but they don't last long. I shoot GT tradional 3555 with 125gr tips out of longbows and recurves up to around 50#. Got some 5575 with a little cut off cause I'm going to push the weight up to around 200gr on the tips with my stronger recurve and longbow.

I know it's silly ,but I do like the look of the wood . Even thought about going to a wood arrow , but I figure for me carbons would be best . Bent two aluminum. Arrows yesterday " don't ask " lol . Me being a nebie to traditional bows it's all still alittle confusing . I was told yesterday day I should go with a 400 at 75grain instert then play around with diffrent tip weights .

400 with 175 and 200 gr tips were too stiff for me.
remember, each bow and shooter is different. you need to tune to yourself and your bow.

are you fletching your own shafts?

I agree about the look of wood. I like to shoot them from time to time, but like the carbon. Comes in handy when you get the big head and start bouncing and skipping them off stuff.

ok, before you go buy a bunch of carbons, I am going to fletch you a 3555 shaft and mail it to you to try. if I have a full length 400 series I will mail it too. this way you can try one without spending a lot of money. PM me you address.

Intrada500 by gold tip should work fine with 125 grain tip.light but fast and accurate.just remember accuracy is always number one.(;-)
