A fellow who I used to work with gave me his late dad's self-made box call. His dad was one the original diehards that I ever knew about.

He said no one in the family hunted, and he wanted it to go to someone who would appreciate it. He said it had to be at least 60 yrs old. It is huge (in excess of 12") and even though the stroke side is wore down, she still sounds sweet.

There is no telling how many old gobblers dueled with her, and how many hours she laid in his lap. She will stay on my display shelf here in my office. Even though I don't use a box call, I may get her out a time or two next spring and let her do what she was built to do!

Very nice gift!
But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

I would have to take it a few times a year and do my damnedest to yelp one up with it. That is a special gift indeed. Any idea what kind of wood it is?

That's pretty awesome right there. I'd do the same, put it on display and try to call up a bird with it once or twice.

The hardest thing about Bowhunting Turkeys is leaving the gun at home!

Yep I'd try to call one up and if successful may retire it then. Maybe take a pic and make some kind of commemorative piece with it for his family.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Yep she deserves a special place and a hunt once in a while.
