Maybe I'll give it a try next week...I'm home alone for a few days. Do they have a "to-go" option?

I was turned onto Paynes about 11 years ago and have been hooked. I highly recommend it. I dont eat there, I always take out. If you have some sinus problems, their smoke sausage will open you up.

Yes. I highly recommend you get a sandwhich and a smoked sausage. If you are getting it to go, you might want it all separated as the bread will be completely soggy by the time you get anywhere. Keep in mind that the slaw and the sauce recipes were developed to compliment each other. The slaw doesn't make sense without the sauce.

OMG, no…..I've only been in there once, and I loved my sandwich. And as is typical, I ordered beans & slaw as a side.

The slaw is just turribul by itself. But it definitely works with the sandwich

I like the slaw just fine by itself, but it's one of the few types that I'll actually allow on my sandwich. I hate white, mushy, runny slaw. Theirs is bold with a mustard base.

You want to know something interesting and entirely ramdom? I stopped at the bar last night and, while messing around on my phone, overhead some guys guys next to me talking about hitting some various BBQ spots. I started talking to them and, turns out, it was the authors of this review. They had been down in Texas for awhile and had just swung back through the region hitting mutton BBQ spots in Kentucky. I sent them over to Selmer for some slug burgers.

That is a neat experience. I was in Orlando Airport reading a USAToday story about Shaquille Oneal and I looked up and there he was. His arm was in a cast, up in the air over his head, and he was definitely in pain. He only had one person with him. He was huge.

Must be a typo, mutton BBQ? How do you get those flavors to coexist?

Man, I haven't had a slug burger in Selmer in ages! You just brought back some memories of 3AM drives to the dam to catch white bass, and driving back to Selmer to eat slug burgers while half awake.
