bore sighted old fashioned way at 100 yards the first shot was 2 inches low and 10 right, let barrel soak in Shooters Choice for 45 minutes and it cleaned up fairly easy,,adjusted scope and shot second shot and it was close enough for now,,soaked barrel in SC another 45 minutes and it took about the same to clean it second time,,shot third shot and it looked to be in the same hole,,let barrel soak 30 minutes and it seemed to clean up a little easier this time and shot the 4th shot and I could see it looked pretty tight but not in the same hole,,

so my first 3 shot group cleaning between each shot with no load work or brass prep shot off the Atlas bipod and a rear bag measured .210 CTC at 100 yards,

my smith got the throat exactly like I asked him and with the 140 Berger Hybird the OAL is 2.845 touching the lands with just barely part of the boattail in the case and none of the fat part of the bullet down in the case below the neck,,allowing max powder space and fit the AI mags

I started break in with the 140 Birds seated .005 off at 2.840 with virgin Lapua brass straight out of the box ,CCI 450 primers and 35 grs Varget,,the way it looks so far with only 4 rounds fired that this may very well be a very easy round to load for,

and for comparison sake side by side pics,,left 308 175 SMK bullet with BC .510 ,loaded 308 round with 175 SMK and 45 grs Varget for 2710 fps,,6.5x47 Lapua loaded round with 140 gr Berger Hybird with BC of .618 at 2725 fps with 36.5 grs Varget,,and the Berger 140 Hybird on the right,,
less bullet weight and recoil using 35 gr lighter bullet and 8.5 grs less powder for at least the same speeds,,probably a bit more speed with different powder,,

Very cool. I prefer to space my shots out a little so I can see where they're hitting. \:D

The first impression is usually telltale. Over the last decade, I've read enough of your "shooting" posts and viewed many of your pics to suspect you must be in hog heaven with your new custom gun, the impeccable work your smith performed and the overall results thus far. Thanks for sharing and best of luck with everything as you move forward.

no doubt man,,still just breakin it in with the 35 gr Varget load and was gonna shoot a 3 and 5 shot group at 100 just to clean the barrel,,but I went over and just threw it down on the ground with no bag or anything just on the bipod at 750 yards I dialed in 20 minutes just guessing at 2700 fps and shot high,,came back to 17+1 and hit the big target 4 times in a row,,but it is big and I didnt have a spotter,,according to that dope it is somewhere around 2800 with only 35 grs powder,,,I may just go with that load,,
it was taking me 26+2 with the 175 308 load,
