There are some oversized seats with "comfort bikes" which are a relatively new design which gets you sitting higher in the seat. They also have gel or form which makes them softer on the tush. http://www.amazon.com/The-Executive-Comfortable-Bicycle-Seat/dp/B006X41PRY Mine looks like this one.

I live in Giles also - where do you ride - I'm looking forward to getting out myself and I'm new to the area.

A. Get some padded shorts
B. build up your tolerance to pain and discomfort.

Poser nailed it. I've yet to ride on a comfortable seat. You just build up a tolerance to it.

Good thinking - I wear the padded shorts AND the comfort seat - no bruising when I"m cruising.

They make a gel seat. Go to a bike shop and find one. Uhhh, there are some nerves "down there" you don't want to hurt that you will worry more about than just a hemorrhoid.

I live near the richland schools ..maybe 4 miles south of them.. I dont ride much.. probably why my rear is sore now.. we are camping at tims ford this weekend and have been on their bike trails.. If you want to ride a good distance I do have a couple of biking buddies that go several miles when they go..

I did 20 miles today on my cannondale and the seat on it is horrible. fits you like gstring. after awhile it goes numb. I bought a bike-pro gel ez seat and it has helped a little. on any ride more that 30 miles, it gets bad.
