For the second consecutive year, Toyota Motor Corp. won the recall crown, according to federal safety regulators.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Toyota recalled nearly 5.3 million vehicles last year. The Japanese automaker topped Chrysler Group, which came in second by calling back almost 4.7 million vehicles.

Yep, I'll push my Toyota before I'll buy something associated with the UAW.

I really would have thought that GM would have received that dubious distinction. But I also know that GM has had several issues in semi-recent history that were major quality issues that they released service bulletins to dealers/mechanics, but would not take ownership of and fix. My '04 Silverado had several problems that Chevy knew about, including porous heads, that they would not take ownership of. Toyota has been far more proactive with their recalls, even when there was no problem (read: phantom brake problems that the US govt pushed)

I'm curious where that "rating" came from, considering GM has now recalled over 19 million vehicles in the last year alone, which is far more vehicles than are produced in the U.S. in a single year (around 15 million).

I love my yota and will drive it till it falls apart.

It wouldn't surprise me if GM wasn't the one who gave the "award" lol

I'd be more interested to see the percentage of their cars sold that were recalled instead of just a number.

You're barking up the wrong tree. After GM's disgusting so called bailout and the revealed cover ups they're headed for bankruptcy again, I believe.

Like mentioned above, our 05 Tahoe has 4-5 issues that occur with EVERY Tahoe that was built, without any recall by GM. Toyota on the other hand continues to earn the trust of car buyers around the World by being transparent and making things right when any issue arises.

I'm not going to support GM at all and with so many others feeling the same about their shotty products there's no way I see them making it.

GM will no doubt take the recall crown from Toyota because I think those were the two previous years and heck GM may take this crown as well ....

WASHINGTON The Justice Department announced on Wednesday that Toyota will pay a $1.2 billion penalty to settle the criminal probe into its handling of unintended acceleration problems that led to recalls of 8.1 million vehicles beginning in 2009.

Attorney General Eric Holder called the settlement the largest U.S. criminal penalty ever imposed on a car company.

"Today, we can say for certain that Toyota intentionally concealed information and misled the public about the safety issues behind these recalls," Holder said. "Put simply, Toyota's conduct was shameful."

Note : Not related to the recall , think it was just the other sting operations and not trying to defend him but not defending Toyota or GM .If they with held information then Toyota should be able to get out of the fine .... don't think it will happen !
