My current DD is a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 2wd regular cab.... a little over 225,000 miles on it and some front suspension rebuild/replacement in the not so distant future. I am looking to upgrade some to a newer used truck.

I have located a 2006 Ram 1500 4x4 crew cab with the Hemi and around 79,000 miles.... looks to be in good condition and taken care of.

I know several on here have a newer Dodge turck around that model and I am looking for some good/bad experiences. I read a thread the other day dealing with the Hemi engine.... 2004 had an issue but was corrected by 2006.

A co-worker has an 06 and he has had caliper problems on the front and issues with rotors warping... and some irregular tire wear after replacing the original tires and wheel bearing units.

What are your experiences? Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

If I was gonna buy a truck and couldn't find a Nissan, a Dodge is what I would buy. I just think they are better built than Ford or Chevy. JMO

Drive it and you will like it, not sure about the ones that cut off 4 cylinders to save gas.

Wrong answer ! You know I was Nissan man until the dang company knew they had a problem with the radiator on certain models (Pathfinder & Frontiers) which caused the anti-freeze to get into the tranny which killed it . No re-call sorry no good bunch and dude I've had a couple of Pathfinders . Dodge might be ok but the last one of them I couldn't keep ball joints in them every year you had to replace them . Might go the Ford route but deep down I'm a Chevy man , my Silverado has 190,000 plus and still kicking .

I can't help with your question, but I will say, it sure is nice to upgrade your truck.

I did it about 13 months ago and am very happy.

My dad has a 2005 Dodge 1500 and has had 4 transmissions put in it. He has the lifetime warranty and had to shell out $$$ for the deductible each time. I still don't know why he still has it. He curses that truck all the time. It does have a smooth ride however.

I have been looking for a few months now just seeing what is out there. It seems trucks sure have gotten over engineered almost to the point of I would just rather find an old one a rebuild it to my preferences. Trucks are supposed to be trucks.... if you are looking for a plush ride with all the electronic bells and whistles, buy a car.

I'm pretty positive I was born about 20 years too late.

Outside of the Hemi issues - great trucks! Have a few employees here who bought 04-7 new - a couple have nearly 200,000 with no problems. They've had great service with theirs
