I'm all but guaranteed to draw a deer tag in Wyoming this year, so I went points only for deer in Colorado. I'm going to spend this winter researching some of the easier to draw archery tags and probably try to draw one next year. If I do draw next year, I'll probably fly out to Colorado sometime mid-July and spend a long weekend driving around the unit to learn the trailheads and get a feel for where I need to concentrate my research. Definitely do some fishing while there.

I remember when the deer tags where over the counter, $150.25, and the bull tags where $250.25. Those where the days. This was back in the mid ninetys. My brother and I took two nice mulies, a day apart, both scoreing in the mid 170s on public land in unit 521. I hunted elk fifteen yrs straight, and we only seen really good deer maybe two other yrs.

you can get a bear only tag for early season, but was informed that there would probably not be any left over, for the later seasons you do have to have a deer or elk tag.think im going to try in the left over draw but the pickings are slim.none in the area I was wanting to hunt but still would like to hunt mule deer this year.the only ones left are later in the season and is going to cut into my whitetail hunting.if I get a tag may get an over the counter elk tag, will be by myself so getting an elk out will be an adventure in its self

$250 got you a "combination" license for elk, deer & bear back in late 70's. Of course, I was making about $12K/yr then too!
