Here's a quick look at the new Hybrid from Grim Reaper. It combines the benefits of a fixed blade plus the extra cut of an expandable. I shot a few arrows and it flies with my field points, cuts a large entrance and exit and is very durable.

A great feature of the Hybrid is the fixed blade portion. Note that the back edge of the blades are sharpened. In the event you don't get a pass though, the blades will be cutting as they try to back out.

Entrance cut!

Interesting! Looks sort of like a take on the Bi-Polar broadhead.

doubt it will penetrate any better than most expandables but it does look pretty good. And the sharpened trailing edge is a plus. I doubt I will ever shoot them, but they look sturdy and very lethal.

Seriously catman? This thing is going to slice through deer like butter. I think it will out penetrate most mechanicals.

I would assume it will penetrate better than most other mechanicals .

The fixed blade portion makes a 1 3/16" cut. The deploying blades follow for a 1 1/2" cut. Total cut is 1 3/16" x 1 1/2". Can't wait to see how they do come late September.

I really liked the Bipolar and this looks very similar. Will give it a shot.

You seen any better prices than this?

These are basically a Hades ferrule. The Hades is one tough head. Shouldn't be any problem going through bone unless it's shoulder. That's tough on any head.

Is there a way to remove the blades on these, or any, GR's? I misplaced my broadhead sharpener and would like to sharpen the one I have been shooting.

Yes, you remove the cup, spring and ring. You then pull the ring down with the blades and turn it to remove the blades. This video explains the guts of the Grim Reaper. Very easy to change blades once you understand how it is put together. FYI the blade retainer system is the same for the Hybrid as their other mechanical heads.

That was kind of difficult. Still couldn't get the fixed blade out. Even though it was difficult, I do like how tight these things fit together. You don't have to worry about any tiny screw drivers or tools which is a plus. I have some Killzones that I need to change blades on but don't know what I did with those tiny "wrenches" they came with.
