Sad there's been scarcely a mention of it here.

"The death of 40 patients allegedly waiting for care at a Phoenix Veterans Administration hospital has sparked outrage and led to calls for the resignation of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki...."

Cooking the books to make it look like the place is working.

Remember Obama promised in 2013 to get the VA to speed up the treatments of the vets.

That is what's going all though out the federal govt today. Since late 2009 the Medicare system has been paying LESS than the doctors bills are there by saying they were SAVING money. All three of my cancer doctors quit taking any new Medicare patients soon after that started.

Where else is this going on at?? FBI, EPA, IRS, etc?????

My Dad's a war vet with full VA benefits. He was turned away for treatment last week. At first he was told he needed knee surgery. After considering all the factors, age 83, poor health, cancer survivor, I think they just decided he wasn't worth the trouble.

2 things I have to say on this...I don't want to sound harsh but my dad has had a good life and his time is growing short. However, he served his country and the VA should give war veterans preferential treatment... Secondly, think long and hard on how my dad is being treated, because this will be the same way obamacare is going to treat EVERYBODY.

Most will begin seeing the worst of ObamaCare beginning in January 2015. And it will be much worse than anything going on at the VA today. (Probably already is, just not realized yet.)

The current lies and deceptions coming from our country's democrat-controlled "leadership" are only the tip of the iceberg of much larger scandals. Amazing what problems are created when our so-called leaders have no integrity. Equally amazing is that so many Americans who do have great integrity refuse to see that lack in those leaders they "like" for whatever reasons.

Couple this lack of integrity with "leaders" who are more about absolute power & control, and we seem to get a purposeful destruction of our economy to empower our leaders. There is in fact an "economic" component, as a method to their madness, to place under political control what was once a free-enterprise system of growing prosperity. (The operative word is "control", somewhat the opposite of "freedom".)

What's happening at the VA, what's happening per ObamaCare, these problems are mere symptoms of the real much larger problems, much of which is simply a lack of leadership integrity, our "leaders" focused mainly on empowering themselves at America's expense ---- quite the opposite of what they tell us.

As but small examples, we see our current President more focused on his "play" time, partying, and taking vacations than even being "available" to assume any role as our President. Yes, where was President Obama during the Benghazi attack which killed Ambassador Stevens? Was he in a stoned stupor? All we really know is he wasn't "present" in the Situation Room as would have been expected by ANY President of the United States. Then we see the likes of Senator Harry Reid as the new face of America's democratic "leadership" elite, pulling the strings and yanking our chains, all for their personal gain and America's disdain.

Brookings economists Ian Hathaway and Robert Litan measured the pace of new business creation across a wide swath of industries. It has been in the decline for some time, but the decline became a plunge in 2006, when the rate of entry of firms fell by half. At the same time, the rate of shuttered storefronts rose until reaching the critical point where “business deaths exceed business births” for the first time in three decades. The decline is nearly universal, with only a handful of metropolitan areas lucky enough to escape the dreaded malaise.

Major CHANGE began in 2006.

Few have recognized what happened, but those who have, they correctly saw that Barack Obama's election in 2008 was merely the icing on the cake.

How many Americans really realize the most significant "change" that occurred in 2006? A single event so huge it could "plunge" the American economy, and all that was needed to finish up was to get ANY democrat elected President in 2008? In fact, the less experienced, the less qualified, the better this new democratic President would serve as icing on "their" cake.

President Obama focuses on the “wealth gap” as if that were the nation’s pressing economic issue. So long as there’s a disparity of ability, determination and luck, some people will be better off than others. The alarm to raise is not about the good fortune of some, but the bad fortune of the vanishing entrepreneur.

He’s rarely seen these days as hope for economic rebound fades. The bitter facts lie in the findings of a survey by the Brookings Institution that the nation’s entrepreneurial spirit is dying. The vision of Sam Walton, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and their kind has been punished to the point of extinction.

Strangled by endless spools of red tape and beaten down by taxes and government fees, businessmen are losing their zeal to convert an idea into a startup business or expansion of one already operating. It’s too much work and risk, to get approvals and comply with laws written by bureaucrats with no spirit or vision. Such rewards as there may be are consumed by taxes. That’s why there are fewer jobs to feed growth.

The blame for the situation falls squarely on Washington, where federal policies stifle innovation. Some 18,000 new federal regulations were imposed between 2008 and 2012, and many more are under consideration. Each one adds to the cost of doing business. Many firms have had no choice but to hire compliance experts to avoid running afoul of the increasingly complex maze of rules and requirements.

The tax system is oppressive and complicated. No other developed nation has a corporate-tax rate as high as America’s, and the global tax policy encourages companies to leave the United States for a friendlier tax climate, taking their profits with them.

Worst of all, the businessmen and entrepreneurs who provide the jobs and keep America’s economic engine running are vilified. “You didn’t build that,” says Mr. Obama, with a sneer, and he raises the rhetoric of redistribution against the “1 percent.” From Obamacare to the failed trillion-dollar stimulus schemes, where the government picks the winners and the losers, everything he does is antithetical to a dynamic marketplace.

. . . . . the entrepreneurs will continue to disappear. Without them, there won’t be wealth to complain about.

Again, what's going on at the VA, what's going on with ObamaCare, what's going on with the BLM, the EPA, the list goes on .. . . . . these are all symptoms of a bigger problem (a lack of integrity among our supposed leaders), where purposeful dismantling of a once-thriving economy is being used as a tool for these political elites to empower themselves and "control" the rest of us.
