The farmer on my land has cut the tobacco and will be sowing winter wheat as soon as we get some rain. It's about 10 acres, I know the deer will hit the wheat, especially this year, but should I add something else? For instance, should I add 2 lbs rape, 10 lbs clover, etc? Or should I just let the wheat grow by itself?

wheat will be fine but if the farmer didn't object I would throw something out with the wheat, like oats, rape, winter peas. The more you have the plot looking like a buffet table (variety) the more you will attract.

i would not think the farmer would object on dwarf essex rape. it will not affect what he is doing , cause it will be gone by spring.
add in about 10 lbs per acre of der.

Wheat is fine, but as others have mentioned, a few more things, like DER and oats could really help.

But to answer your question YES. Every season I put in a small winter wheat only plot and they hammer it.

A 10 acre wheat field will probably be a deer magnet any year, even with acorns. Especially from December through deer season.
