Can I get a roll call on who would be interested in revising the ROR event this year?

We used to gather for some camping, canoeing, fishing and hanging out after Turkey season. I was thinking about putting one together for this year.

If we could set a date sometime around June, how many would be interested in hanging out and kicking back for a weekend with the TNDeer folks?

We try to pick on in the middle of the state somewhere. We've done Duck River, The Caney Fork and I think The Buffalo.

I'm good with any of these or any other. Maybe even one around Nooga or Pigeon forge. But those would be tough on the W. TN folks.

I can recommend a good one on the buffalo, Heaths canoe rental. We did the 26 mile overnight and it was great. It was just the right length for an overnight trip.

I might be interested in the Caney Fork if the weekend was right. However, don't set it around me.

buffalo is a nice river! Haven't floated it in years. The piney river is beautiful and fishing USED to be great. I don't know what it's like now with the new canoe camp. Just a thought. I'm down for whatever. Love me some river fishin!!

Lol. That's about like my brothers friend asking Mom about wedding dates. She told him any but July 12. Guess who went to a wedding the morning of her own wedding? \:\)
Don't plan around us but I'll be gone the first 2 weekends.
It does sound fun though.

We also done the Red River, Nolichucky above Greenville, and one in South Cherokee I believe it was called Clear Fork. Not sure about the name.

It was always a great trip and a lot of fun. Wish I was able to go again.

AWFUL AWFUL SUGGESTION. A good friend and I went camping and trout fishing on a weekend and came back Sunday afternoon, both of our wives got together and went to lunch then to the mall, and then out to dinner! Together the spent over a GRAND!!! OH did I forget to mentioned that just happened to be "Mother Day"
Yeah, most expensive camping trip we ever went on, and I still hear about it every Mother's day weekend...Oh yeah this was in 2002.

LOL @ Twinshooter

Reminds me of a spring turkey hunting trip I took one time.

I was in the middle of a good hunt and the wife calls and asked what I thought about getting a new dining room table.
Although we had had ours for about 20 years there was NOTHING wrong with it and we never use it anyway.

In a rush I told her to "buy whatever you want"

Solid cherry dining room set.
Solid cherry bedroom suit with two dressers, night chest AND bed.

Uh yeah, that was EXPENSIVE !!!!

If I am not chasing poons in the Keys I will be there...We have several canoes and itching to use them...

The Nolichucky has trout or at least used to. Caught quite a few back in the late 80's there.

Would June 20-22 work for everyone?

That's the third weekend in June. That Sunday is Father's day but I expect most would head out early Sunday AM or even Sat night.

Now we just need to choose the place. I'll post a poll to see what the most popular place would be.

I think we could and maybe should do a float for each region. I know I would not drive 3-6 hrs for a campout.

But I would LOVE to float one of them cold, Smokey Mtn. streams in the summer \:\)

Hey Crappie, we could do a west side Tom Sawyer flost on the gentle giant (MS.) The water is rolling after all the rains, and there is no telling what you may see coming down the river! \:\)

On the 20th I will be limping back from a straight run off a 9-day mission trip to South Dakota followed immediately by 6 days of middle school summer camp. If there ends up being a meet-up spot I can access by land, I might try to come for the fellowship.

On the other hand, I've got a canoe that might be available to a quality borrower going on the trip.

Best place to rent from. I've used them as a shuttle several times in the past.

1- Canoes can be rented from Big Rock AKA Caney Fork Canoe rental. Right by the dam.

2-Campground is super, right by the boat ramp.

3-easy access to Caney or Center Hill ramps.

4-State park is just minutes away with rooms to rent.

1-Canoes are for rent from a couple places right on the river.
2-Campground is super and very cooperative-right by one of the boat ramps.
3-Easy access to river and Center Hill
4-Minutes from state park and rooms and pool.
5-Good fishing from bank and float.
6-Great time last time it was there.

Fishing can be quite good.

Camp site availability

http://www.reserveamerica.com/camping/lo...parkId=71272#sr

Can we get a count of the number of people coming?
We might reschedule if turnout is expected to be low.

Thanks

Due to the Wife dis-locating her right shoulder, I am going to have to pass and also moved my time off to help around the house.
Please post if the date changes for any reason, if not hope everyone have a great and safe time.

I'm leaning towards putting this off until a later date.

There is a lot of interest, but this weekend seems to hit the majority of people at a bad time. (Myself included).

I'll keep this thread up for a few days to let people know that it's called off, for now \:\)
