depends what kind of freezer? chest or self defrost .normal temp is 0-5 .if it has a defrost system 10 might set that off or if the door is open more than a minute or 2.

Mine doesn't have the option to adjust the temperature. It alarms any time the freezer rises above 15 degrees I think.
