I took my son to the Hermitage today. They offered a homeschool rate today. We got in for 1/2 price.

By the end the 2nd class and tour, I wondered if they'll ever host a homeschool group again. Obviously the homeschool group was not buying the white guilt and liberal spin they were selling.

I thought it was pretty disrespectful to so openly distain the man who's home your are offering tours and "Education". I guess I'm just naive to think that to work there you would have some level of respect for the man. Silly me.....

But it didn't take long for the homeschool group to "school" the instructor on history.

I had to laugh when she started a short commercial from 1961 for "Fridgidare" (sic). It was showing the "Kitchen of the future" and had a women baking a cake and doing dishes all with a fully automated kitchen. The instructor begins with "As a feminist, I find this video offensive but it serves a purpose that we'll discuss later". at the end of the video she asks "What do you think this has to do with our topic today?"

A father raises his hand and says "Obviously this video ties in to slavery directly" He says.

"How so?" She asks

"Because a man not seen in the video is working his butt off all day to pay for her brand new kitchen"

She was not pleased.

Later in the presentation she says "Slaves had been working in America for hundreds of years without pay".

One of the students had a question.

"Yes?" she asks him

"America was not hundreds of years old yet. You said Jackson was only our seventh President"

"Well", she said "Slavery had been here long before we were known as America".

"Who were we then?" He asked.

"British colonies" another student replied.

"Well then how long did AMERICA have slavery?" He asked.

"Only for another 45 years, until 1865" I parent replied.

At this point the instructor buts in and say's "Well these people owned slaves long before we were known as "America".

"That's Britain's Fault" one kid says.

"If he slaves hated him so much, why did that one ask to be buried at his side in the garden" One kid asked

I had to laugh at all this.

I think our kids did great but you would not believe the amount of insult and white guilt pilled on in such a short time.

If you ever get a chance to tour the Hermitage, it's an amazing piece of history.

But as for the instruction, here's the cliff notes "Jackson was a Basta*rd, but he had a really nice house. Enjoy your tour and don't touch the wall paper"

Be sure to go to their Facebook page and post a summary of their "education".

Saw some tracks by the old slave Quarter foundation that looked like ELK.

Used to be able to bow hunt the old archery range. I don't think we still can though.

During the "trails of tears" segment she was obsessing on the word "Savages" do describe the indians.

"What do you think of when you heard the degrading term "Savages" and it's used to describe another human being.

A boy raises his hand.

"Did you know they tied people guts to trees and made them walk around the tree?"

anther boy says "They also buried people to their waist and covered them with honey so the ants would eat them."

LOL

I don't think her point was well received \:D

Great comebacks. We are ALL savages during war.

Read the diaries of Lewis and Clark and the men of the Corps of Discovery. Quite a few of the tribes they encountered along the Missouri River pimped their women out to anyone with beads or an edible dog.
