If enough of us e mail during the public comment period, we might actually get night hunting for coyotes legal. I think it could be done from mid february through early july, during the time when buck deer have no or small antlers. Be sure to email your comments in before sunday.

Or not, have no idea why twra would oppose this so hard. To protect coyotes? Almost to the point of them being rude. Oh well, nevermind gents.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be rude. The TWRA forum is set up to answer questions and is not set up for discussion and debate.

There are a lot of law enforcement and safety concerns that I suspect will continue to keep TWRA from supporting night time coyote hunting. The killing of a US Forest Service officer in GA a couple of years ago in a night coyote hunting accident highlights some of the safety issues. It has NOTHING to do with wanting to protect coyotes.

Thank you. I just see so many while i am hog hunting at night on my permitt. Thought it might be ok to ask about it. Didnt think they would be anymore danger to it than killing pigs. Of course accidents can happen doing anything. Thanks

Other state do it with no problems that I know of. I think Tennessee could to. I believe we the hunter get short change in some areas and this is one of them.

If you do some cking those states have more problems trying to run 24 hrs a day with a limited amount of officers & $ not to mention accidents. TWRA is spread too thin during the day when most sportsman are afield imo. Some folks will make their own rules or no rules & get by with it for years until they are caught or a accident teaches them a life lesson

New york? A sad day when new york can hunt in ways that we cant. I can totally understand not doing it when deer would be in danger but in the spring? Any hunting comes with risk. They should ban treestands, going over 20mph in a boat and probably hunting and fishing all together if the argument is that it is dangerous.

I personally don't think to spread to thin is a valid excuse or accidents. I don't think it would be anymore of a problem for TWRA than anything else they do. I personally think it should be easy for a officer to tell if one is poaching or hunting coyotes.

I don't see why they couldn't limit it to shotguns and the size shot used for night hunting them
